This panel was made for a side window in a suburban living room which was previously glazed with commercial patterned glass.
I was asked to make a realistic design that incorporated garden birds, in memory of a partner who had a love and knowledge of birds and who encouraged all typed of birds to visit the garden.
The gold finches were the most challenging to replicate in glass. This was achieved by fusing red onto clear glass and painting in the rest of the plumage with silver stain and metal oxide paint.
The following two panels are different in that I was given an open brief to be as imaginative as I liked and produce a design with a visual narrative.
