Victorian Bathroom Door

The original door panel had been replaced by some very plain frosted glass. The brief was to make a panel that would reintroduce a focus of interest.

It also had to retain the desired privacy for the bathroom and harmonise with the traditional décor and fittings in the hall. The panel is most effectively seen as you walk up the stairs in the hall.

I was inspired by the existing stained glass in other parts of the house and created a formal design that incorporated wild flower motifs. The fine detail of the flowers and foliage was achieved by acid etching flashed glass and then applying yellow stain.

A variety of textured glass types were used to obscure the view of the bathroom from the hall.
