I come from a multi-media Fine Art background and chose to specialize in stained glass as a post graduate in Environmental Art at Glasgow School of Art.
Over the years I have developed my own style, combining fusing with traditional techniques, to produce decorative designs which readily harmonise with both modern and traditional architecture. I have been based at Luneside Studios in Lancaster for the last four years working on glass and public arts projects. I enjoy the collaborative process and look forward to working with clients, architects, artists and builders when the opportunity arises.

“Commissioning Sid Barlow to create windows for the front door of the Lodge at Brantwood was inspirational. Sid rose to the challenge of adding to Ruskin’s historic building with sensitivity and imagination. The windows are a much loved feature that delighted visitors regularly comment on. The result has been an enduring gift to the building and all those that occupy it.”

“I can highly recommend Sid Barlow’s glass work. Sid used his skill as a craftsman and his imagination as an artist to produce this inner door panel for my Victorian terrace house. He refined and reworked my own idea of a contemporary design and colour scheme to blend in with the house and created this beautiful, individual, much remarked upon glass feature.”

“We were delighted with Sid’s work for us. Once we had discussed what we wanted with him, he spent some time looking around the area at other Victorian houses to ensure that what he was going to propose was suitable. He then showed some outline plans of what he was proposing and we were pleased with those. After that he showed us the detailed plans and that was agreed. We were amazed and delighted with the finished result. It has made our previously rather dark hall really light, but the main thing is that the stained glass looks really wonderful, it really has enhanced our house and many guests have admired the design – it has been a real talking point.”

"Sid made our window whilst studying at Glasgow School of Art and we were totally smitten by it! Even then we didn’t dream how much pleasure it would bring to us and our visitors. Children stop in their tracks to gaze in wonder! One surprise bonus feature is that the sun shines through the glass at an angle which projects a breath taking image on to our white walls, constantly flickering, and with colours modified by the sunlight. This work of art brings us joy each day – priceless!"
